Heritage Cartography was established in 1980 by Peter Adams who for many years gained a wealth of experience in mapping with the Ordnance Survey. His own interest in the history of the industrial revolution led him to research nineteenth century maps. He established Heritage Cartography to give others with a similar interest the opportunity to discover how their towns and villages looked during that period of great social change.
Peter is creating a new national series of maps depicting British towns and villages as they were in the nineteenth century. Each map is authoritatively compiled and redrawn from the first large scale surveys by the Ordnance Survey and presented in the style and colours of the early nineteenth century town cartographers.
